Agreement

By using ChordSine you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use ChordSine. You should only use ChordSine if you're old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live; if you're not, please use it with a parent or guardian's permission.

What ChordSine is

ChordSine is a free playground for the physics of music: play notes and see the waveforms they make, and explore the visuals ChordSine builds from them. It's provided as-is, for you to explore and enjoy.

How you may use it

You may use ChordSine for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

That means no reselling, no commercial redistribution, and no using ChordSine or anything it generates as part of a commercial product or service. It also means no scraping or automated bulk use. If you want to use ChordSine commercially, you need our prior written permission.

Your content

Any notes or MIDI input you bring to ChordSine stay yours. Live playback is processed locally in your browser; downloadable image rendering is described below. You confirm you have the right to use whatever you bring, and you're responsible for it.

Feedback

If you send us feedback, ideas, ratings, tags, comments, or suggestions (for example through the contact form or quick-feedback prompt), we may use them to improve ChordSine without any obligation or payment to you. Please do not include anything sensitive in optional free-text feedback.

What you create

Anything ChordSine generates from what you bring or play, such as the visuals you make with it, may be used for personal, non-commercial purposes. Downloadable waveform images are rendered from the note names and display settings in the image URL. That permission covers only our rights in what ChordSine produces; it doesn't clear the rights in any music or other material you bring, which remain your responsibility. Commercial rights, including printing or selling what you generate, are reserved and may be offered separately in the future.

Intellectual property

ChordSine, including the engine, the brand, and this site, is built and owned by Arpeggiator. The personal-use permission above doesn't transfer any ownership to you.

Future paid features

Some features of ChordSine may become paid in the future. These terms don't entitle you to future functionality for free, and paid features may come with additional terms.

Voluntary contributions

ChordSine is free to use. You may make a voluntary contribution to help with running costs, but you never have to. A contribution is not a purchase: it grants no goods, services, features, future functionality, contributor status, rights, or commercial-use permission, and it does not change the personal-use terms above. Contributions are handled by our payment processor on its own hosted page and are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

Acceptable use

Don't break, abuse, overload, or attack ChordSine, and don't use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend or withdraw your access if you breach these terms or misuse the service.

Your responsibility

You're responsible for how you use ChordSine and for any content you bring to it. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover us for any third-party claim, loss, or cost that arises from your misuse of ChordSine or from content you bring that you didn't have the right to use.

Disclaimer

ChordSine is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and we don't guarantee it will always be available or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any damages arising from your use of ChordSine. In particular, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Where the Australian Consumer Law applies and our liability for a non-excludable consumer guarantee can be limited, our liability is limited to re-supplying the relevant service.

Changes

We may change or discontinue ChordSine, and we may update these terms. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. This doesn't limit any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

General

These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about ChordSine. If any part of them is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a part of these terms straight away, that isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.
